Students of the PYP and IGCSE participated in the Hindustan Times rewards & recognition programme 2011. The "Whiz Kids" program was for kids in grade III & IV and the "Young Achievers" programme was for kids in grade V to IX.
Students of grade V to IX had to write an essay on "Your ideas to make Mumbai special" and they submitted the 'Nomination Form' filled by their parents.
All the students of Podar International School from grade III to IX participated in the above programme.
Best 3 students from each standard were nominated by Dr. (Mrs) Vandana Lulla (Principal/Director of the Institution) and they will be awarded with the HT Certificate of Merit. Additionally, 50 students (standard V to IX) of various schools will be selected by HT Panel and they will win a Scholarship amount worth Rs. 50000/- each (10 from each standard). It helps students to increase their learning horizons.
More than 27,000 applications were received for the scholarship and HT Panel were interviewed 150 students over 5 days. Only 50 students were selected for the scholarship.
Master Calvin D'souza of 8E is one of the scholars. His name & photograph was published two consecutive dates (25th & 26th Feb.) on HT Mumbai edition on page 4 & 2 respectively.
Editor, Hindusthan Times (Mumbai) Mr Soumya Bhattacharyam and Actor Shabana Azmi were presented the Scholarship Certificate, Trophies and Rs 50,000/- in a colourful programme at Sri Shanmukhananda Auditorium, Sion (E) on 26th Feb. 2011.
