Introduction of the School

Podar International School is affiliated to Cambridge International Examinations, UK (CIE) and International Baccalaureate Organization, Geneva (IBO).The school code number for CIE – IN420 and school code number for IBO – 002228.

Podar International School comes under the aegis of Podar Educational Complex which is managed by Anandilal and Ganesh Podar Society established in 1927.Podar International School was founded on April 6th, 2004.

The school prepares its students to attain mastery in the following curricula:

IBPYP Pre-Primary (Nursery – Sr.Kg)

At this stage, the IBPYP programme enables our young children develop their cognitive and motor skills. Through each unit of inquiry, the students' curiosity and imagination is sparked by exposing them to a new world of learning. 'Tender loving care' is the new catalyst in our classrooms.

IBPYP (Grade 1 – Grade 5)

At this stage, students are exposed to a vibrant world of learning as they think independently and explore new concepts and accept greater challenges. The IBPYP programme enables students to explore transdisciplinary themes through the lines of inquiry or six organizing themes: Who we are, Where we are in place and time, How we express ourselves, How the world works, How we organize ourselves and Sharing the planet. In the final year of PYP, the children participate in a cumulative project, the PYP Exhibition. The focus is on providing an electrifying environment through development of learner profile, attitude and skills of each child.

Middle School (Grade 6 - Grade 10) Check Point / IGCSE

At this stage, the pace of academic demand is accelerated and students are gradually prepared to forge ahead. Students gain a strong foundation and develop into holistic beings. During these years, the smooth transition from childhood to adolescence is facilitated by a comprehensive, value- added education. The academic challenges become the focus as the students start preparing for the Achievement tests, Checkpoint and IGCSE exams. The IGCSE syllabus has been designed to equip students with comprehensive and conceptual knowledge of the subjects. There are 5 different groups and students have to select one subject from each group.

Group I : Languages - English and French/ Hindi
Group II : Humanities and Social Science - Economics
Group III : Sciences - Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Group IV : Mathematics and
Group V : Business, Creative, Technical and Vocational - Business Studies/ IT and Accounting.
To obtain a Cambridge International Certification of Education (ICE), a student has to select at least 7subjects from the 5 IGCSE curriculum areas.

IBDP / A Levels Higher Secondary School (Grade 11- Grade 12)

At this stage, the IBDP and A Levels programme is undertaken .Students become more focused through their career choices. The focus is on equipping students for higher-based education. In these final years of schooling, students are given an opportunity to exhibit their leadership qualities and emerge as responsible citizens of the world.

The A Level helps students to develop problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to apply knowledge. The students can select 4 subjects from the following groups: Group A: Science and Mathematics- Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Thinking skills Group B: Languages -English Language, Group C– Arts and Humanities- Accounting, Art & Design, Business Studies, Economics, Psychology and Thinking skills

The IBDP curriculum is illustrated by a hexagon which consists of 6 subject groups together with a core, made up of 3 separate vital elements - Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Action and Service. One subject from each of the following groups has to be taken i.e. 6 subjects (3 HL & 3 SL).
Group I : English Literature
Group II : French/ Hindi / SPANISH ab initio
Group III : Economics, History, Business & Management and Psychology
Group IV : Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Systems & Societies and Computer Science.
Group V : Mathematics, Math. Studies.
Group VI : Visual Art or a second subject from Groups 3 or 4.
